UV Paint Curing
UV light produces a chemical reaction that is used in industrial applications such as UV paint curing, primers, fillers and clearcoats as well as inks and other types of coatings. Much quicker and more efficient than traditional baking methods, UV paint curing systems also offer significant energy savings without producing any hazardous byproducts. First introduced in the 1960’s, UV lamps have rapidly gained acceptance by a diverse range of industries and are now the preferred choice of many OEMs across the globe.
To instantly cure paints, and a variety of other coatings and finishes including lacquers, glazes and varnishes, high-intensity ultraviolet lamps are used to create a photochemical reaction. On the other hand, conventional water and solvent based thermal drying methods work by solvent evaporation, which not only takes time but also creates polluting emissions. With UV light systems’ instant curing, manufacturers report higher production rates, better bonding, no loss of volume and less likelihood of product damage as in slower drying methods. Along with being environmentally friendly, UV lamps are also easy to operate and maintain.
Light Sources and our European partner, LightTech are global leaders in designing, engineering and manufacturing high-tech UV curing lamps. We produce three main types of UV curing lamps including: medium pressure UVA curing; high pressure curing; and low pressure UVC amalgam curing. Our lamps are extremely long-lasting and energy-efficient, and our compact design makes retrofitting easy-to-do. In addition to our line of high-quality standard lamps, we can also design and develop a highly customized system to meet your specific needs.
All of our UV lamps are constructed from the highest quality materials and manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities. We invite you to browse our website for more information regarding UV light applications, and keep in mind, our experts are more than happy to discuss the various aspects of our UV curing technology as well as our other MPUV products.
LightSources in the U.S. and our strategic partner in Europe, LightTech represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today. Many Advantages of UV Light Disinfection Robots
Disinfection robots are not a new idea, they have been around for a while although have gained increased attention amidst the coronavirus pandemic. UV light disinfection is used in many industries to sterilize surfaces, air and water and is proven effective in the healthcare industry to help prevent the spread of infection. Hospitals must be diligent in cleaning and sterilizing patient rooms as hospital acquired infections (HAIs) are a serious concern for patients and staff.
The most commonly transmitted HAIs are from viruses and bacteria resistant to antibiotics and are also referred to as superbugs. Some of the most common superbugs include methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and Clostridium difficile (C.diff). It is estimated by the CDC that one in every 31 hospital patients will contract an HAI on any given day. This puts patients and staff at risk of contracting a serious illness that causes pain, suffering and even death.
UV Disinfection Robots Help to Prevent HAIs
A study by the National Institutes of Health, Application of Service Robots for Disinfection in Medical Institutions published in 2017 shows that ultraviolet light robots significantly reduced the burden of MRSA on patient room surfaces. This was true for patients known to have had a MRSA infection. UV light sterilization devices including UV light robots used in conjunction with manual cleaning and sterilization efforts are highly effective at reducing the amount of harmful pathogens on surfaces.
UV light robots provide effective disinfection properties and many additional benefits such as automation, robots can be programmed to shut down in the presence of people and to find their way back to their charging station. Robots are an investment that pays off with increased sterilization and no labor expenses. The types of UVC germicidal lamps used in UVC robots are crucial to achieve maximum sterilization effectiveness.
LightSources offers high-quality, high-performance UVC germicidal lamps used n a wide array of sterilization applications. Our lighting engineers possess deep technical knowledge of UV radiation and offer custom designed sterilization lamps as well as prototype development. UV Air Purifiers for HVAC Systems

UV air purifiers improve health and wellness by sterilizing and purifying the air we breathe. UV air purification systems can be installed in HVAC systems to quietly sterilize and clean the air with no hassle, no maintenance. UVC germicidal lamps are proven to be highly effective and air sterilization by eradicating bacteria, viruses, mold mildew and even dust from the air.
Keeping the air clean of these contaminants is important in public places such as nursing homes, hospitals, schools, doctor’s offices and many other environments. UV air purifiers are becoming more popular in residential homes as well as many people are realizing the benefits of UVC germicidal sterilization. UV air purifiers which also produce ozone are proven to eliminate foul orders as well as harmful contaminants.
