UV Drying Lamps Provide Quick Return on Investment

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is used in many industrial applications in highly effective UV drying lamps to provide a quick and strengthened bond when curing polymers such as resins, varnishes and inks.  Specialty resins that are exposed to UV wavelengths cause a photochemical reaction that produces a strengthened and hardened finish.  UV drying lamps provide cost efficient drying processes to a multitude of industrial applications.
UV Drying Lamps Aid Automotive Manufacturers
Automotive manufacturers utilize UV drying lamps in several applications to cure polymers in specialty parts.  UV drying creates a hardened gloss surface on interior parts, providing strengthened plastic parts that hold up with extensive wear and tear and still retain their exterior finish.  UV drying can add considerable strength to parts used in critical applications that require long lasting durability under high temperatures.
UV drying is a fast and efficient process, saving time and money for production facilities with low maintenance, little repair cost and quick cycle times.
Printing Industry Enhanced with UV Curing
UV curing printing machines are enhancing the printing industry with specialty inks that dry instantly with little evaporation, providing a consistently crisp and clean finish.  UV drying lamps are used in printing processes for several products including postcards, glossy cards or calendars, magnets, plastic bottles or wood products.
UV Drying Lamps Cure Wood and Flooring
UV drying lamps can instantly cure ink on vinyl, wood and even concrete, improving stain resistance and long-lasting durability during wear on tear on floors.  UV drying is highly effective with no lasting chemical residue and provides a fast curing process suitable for walking on within minutes of treatment.
UV Drying Lamps for Medical Sterilization
UV lamps are highly effective at sterilization and disinfection assisting the medical industry with safe products and surfaces.   UV drying lamps are used to sterilize medical devices including hearing aids, syringes, dialysis machines and test strips to name just a few of the many purposes for UV lamps in the medical industry.

Mercury Lamps are Powerful and Cost Effective

Mercury vapor lamps produce light with an electric arc and vaporized mercury.  The outer lamp is often coated with phosphor which helps to counteract the bluish-green tint which is often created from mercury vapor as it can emit an unflattering ambient tint for the public eye.  Phosphor coatings assist with emitting white light that is much more pleasing to the eye in overhead lighting structures.
Mercury lamps are proven to be more energy efficient that incandescent and fluorescent lighting, with long lasting high-performing lamp life.  LightSources and our European Partner, LightTech, have developed proprietary technology for low-pressure mercury lamps (LP Hg lamp), providing powerful ultraviolet (UV) technology in a short efficient wavelength.
Our low-pressure mercury lamps convert 40% of electrical energy into effective UVC radiation used in several germicidal applications.
Superior High-Performance Mercury Lamp Models
LightSources and our affiliated companies are leaders in the lighting and UV technology industry, possessing in-depth knowledge of ultraviolet radiation technology.  We offer several models for a multitude of applications.  Our specialty mercury lamps include ozone generating or ozone free lamps, soft glass or quartz, standard or high-output, and low-pressure amalgam lamps.  Our various models of high-performance mercury lamps include standard models or custom designed solutions specific to your equipment and application.
LightSources employs highly skilled design engineers with extensive knowledge in ultraviolet radiation and superior lamp design, providing expert assistance to OEMs with custom designed products.   We provide assistance with developing proprietary lighting solutions specific to your mercury lamp application.
Mercury Lamp Applications
Mercury Vapor Lamps are very effective for germicidal applications providing complete sterilization and disinfection to air, water and surfaces.  UVC germicidal applications are more effective for water disinfection that chlorine, and are healthier with no use of toxic chemicals.

Get Compliant to New Ballast Water Treatment Convention

With the new requirements of the Ballast Water Treatment Convention (BWTC) nearing this September, shipping companies are scrambling to becoming compliant.  The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), a division of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is enforcing this global effort to keep our planet’s oceans safe and sustainable.  Ballast water contamination is recognized as one of the top 5 threats to the sustainability of our global ocean water, threatening our very survival.
Ballast Water is Global Threat to Oceans
Ballast water is used in ships for balance when sailing through the oceans, taking ocean water into their ballast for balance when sailing with a light load after releasing cargo.  The problem arises when this oceanic water, from around the globe, is released in another port, thus contaminating the marine life in a completely foreign oceanic ecosystem.
Invasion of foreign marine life has wreaked havoc in shipping ports around the world, where invaders are released with no natural predators in place to control them.  Mussels have attached to dams and bridges, shutting down vital water purification systems, jellyfish have multiplied to unsafe levels, and in some cases toxic algae has caused death to native marine life and threatened the health of human inhabitants as well.
UV Treatment Compliant and Effective
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is proven safe and effective for the treatment of ships ballast water, providing compliance to the new standards set forth in the BWTC.  UV germicidal lamps are effective and cost-efficient, requiring little maintenance and replacement costs, and no requirements for purchasing or storing chemicals.  UV ballast water treatment systems provide a small footprint, saving space on already tight quarters.
LightSources Provides High Performance UV Germicidal Lamps
UV treatment for ballast water is recognized as a powerful sterilization and purification method, eradicating harmful contaminants and organisms from water including bacteria, viruses and micro-organisms.  LightSources provides highly effective UV treatment with long lasting proprietary technology utilizing in our Low-Pressure (LP) Amalgam lamps, and Medium Pressure UV (MPUV) lamps.
