Benefits of MPUVC Lamps in the Waste Water Disinfection Industry

There are several advantages to using germicidal UVC technology over traditional germicidal methods in the sterilization of bacteria, fungi and viruses. At LightTech and LightSources, we are global leaders in the UVC germicidal lamp industry and offer high-qualty and custom-made products as well as the additional benefit of reduced lead times and unmatched innovation.

Our vacuum-sealed medium pressure ultraviolet (MPUV or MPHO) lamps are used for water, air and surface disinfection applications.  For industries such as waste water disinfection and marine ballast water treatment systems, MPUV lamps are most commonly used as they emit a far greater UVC energy than low pressure ultraviolet lamps (LPUV).  This allows for higher flow rates of water disinfection, and at the same time, maintains a geometric footprint.

MPUV’s also offer the benefit of producing polychromatic (emission of multiple wavelengths) output.  Polychromatic UVC lamps will promote advanced oxidation processes (AOP’s) and are used to efficiently reduce and remove micro-pollutants (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, insecticides, etc.) in waste water.   In addition LightSources and LightTech offer the industry lamps that range in sizes from 100 watts per inch to over 700 watts per inch, with arc lengths ranging from 2 to 85 inches.

Our unique MPUV lamps are constructed from high-quality, ultra-low water content fused quartz and comply with the strictest local codes and regulations.  To ensure a hermetic seal, our lamps are manufactured with a molybdenum foil within a hard quartz capillary and use pure tungsten pin electrodes with an over-wind of throated tungsten.  We also use a precise process when pumping and filling each lamp with an inert Argon gas to ensure accuracy of fill pressure and mercury content.  Furthermore, our lamps are constructed using one of our premium metal or ceramic bases and the appropriate electrical terminations to provide our customers with the safest and most effective electrical conductivity.

All of our lamps contain a serial number, which gives us complete traceability from start to finish in both the production and measurement process.  Our team of experienced engineers is ready to work with you to design a system that meets your every specification. Please contact us to learn more.

Miniature Lamps Provide Innovative Backlighting Solutions

LCD Lighting is the leading manufacturer of miniature lamps that are used to illuminate the essential primary avionics display in many of today’s commercial, private and military aircrafts.  In addition our high-quality miniature lamps are used in laptops, ATM’s, medical monitors, kiosk displays, or as OEM replacement lamps for similar devices.

Typically one of our miniature lamps incorporate a multiple bend lamp configuration and is used to backlight a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) such as that found in a laptop computer.  To help determine the size, shape and power of the lamp you need, we take into account your particular application and/or environment it will be used in.  Miniature lamps are usually placed on the edge of a LCD or directly behind in order to best reflect the light through the LCD.

LCDL’s multi-bend miniature lamps are available in sizes of outside diameters (O.D.) from 6mm to 20mm.  Furthermore, they come in a variety of shapes that include grid lamps, circular lamps and interlocking lamps.  Our grid lamps are designed with more than one “U” bend in one plane and with electrode legs in the same plane, a parallel plane or at right angles to the plane of the grid.  This unique design allows the edge effect to be minimized and to enhance the available lamp’s energy when viewing the LCD application from a variety of viewing angles.  Our circular lamps are available in virtually any size and can be oval as well as circular.  LCDL’s interlocking lamps are perfect for applications that require redundancy in the event one lamp fails.

The advantage of our miniature lamps is they provide our customers with a more efficient, single lamp system.  Various benefits include: simplified wiring harnesses, reduced power requirements and enhanced durability, better uniformity, easier to dim and easier to maintain.  Please see our website for more information.

LightSources and our affiliated companies represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used world-wide in a multitude of applications and industries such as our UV germicidal lamps that offer patent-protected, OEM-oriented solutions.  Please contact us to learn more about our large selection of specialty custom and standard lamps.

Our Fluorescent Long Tubes are the Top Choice of Sign-makers

Voltarc Technologies Inc., an important part of our LightSources group, is the country’s leading designer and manufacturer of fluorescent and neon sign lighting components.  We are proud to be the designer and manufacturer of fluorescent sign long lamps that are the first choice of sign-makers across the country.

Available in both a variety of highly customized and standard sizes, our fluorescent long lamps help streamline the construction process and provide significant savings to our customers.  When you choose Voltarc’s nine or ten foot long lamps, it will reduce the number of wiring components, sockets and ballasts required during the installation process and result in fewer parts, fewer outages and overall less maintenance.

In addition fluorescent long lamps not only offer customer’s cost-efficiency, but also provide superior performance and can be used just like any other straight high-output fluorescent lamp.  To install, the ballast should be able to carry up to four F108, F117, F120T12/HO lamps, which can be found at any sign ballast maker.  When using our long lamps, we recommend sign-makers provide starting aids to ensure a reliable lamp start-up especially in times of low temperatures or high humidity.

If you are considering a double faced sign, we suggest using a grounded strip of metal stretched the length of the lamp to serve as your starting aid.   Acceptable distances are ½ “wide and ½” away or ¼“ wide, ¼” away.  If your sign is single-faced, the metal cabinet back is generally sufficient for grounding purposes but our experts are more than happy to help answer any questions.

Voltarc’s extensive portfolio also includes high-quality standard and customized fluorescent sign lamps, neon tubing, and U-lamps.  Furthermore, our innovative cup-cathode construction provides unsurpassed electrical life to the TriLight Max Series of fluorescent lamps.  Please see our website for more information.
