Two of our Proprietary Technologies: Robo-Bend and Ultra-Bright™

At the LightSources group, we are proud of the fact that we have the ability to offer OEMs of any size a wide range of the finest standard and customized specialty fluorescent lamps.  Our affiliate in fluorescent lighting technology, LCD Lighting (LCDL), is one of the foremost high-tech designers and manufacturers in the industry, and offers innovative patented and propriety technologies that help to set us apart from our competitors.

One smart, cost-effective reason to make LCDL your fluorescent light manufacturer is our proprietary fluorescent technology known as Robo-Bend.  This cutting-edge technology allows serpentine hot- and cold-cathode lamps to be manufactured with automated bending processes.  Robo-Bend also provides our clients with the advantage of decreased production times, which means faster deliveries and reduced inventories.

Another one of LCDL’s patented technologies is Ultra-Bright™, which is a unique combination of manufacturing processes and advanced materials that allow us to manufacture lamps that surpass the performance and quality of any comparable product on the market today.  Ultra-Bright offers our customers lamps that have double the efficiency (lm/watts), 50% improvement in lumen maintenance, and maximized lighting uniformity.

This patented technology can be applied to any hot- or cold- cathode, bent fluorescent lamp from 8mm to 25mm diameters.  Furthermore, our proprietary process means we can eliminate any performance loss at the bends as well as deliver more total lumen output for a given wattage input.

As the leading manufacturer of T2, T4, T5, T8 and T12 fluorescent lamps, LCDL lamps offers custom phosphor engineering and deliver precise color temperature, CRI index, and brightness (lm/watt).  Our portfolio includes CCFL Sub-minis and HCFL-aperture and reflectors, aquarium lighting and compact fluorescents as well as fully customized solutions.  We also can customize the shape, color, base, size, and ceramic end caps to your individual specifications.  Visit our website to learn more about our proprietary fluorescent lamp technologies.

Patented, Proprietary Peak2 Technology®

At LightSources and LightTech, we have not stopped developing proprietary solutions to offer clients the best tanning lamp solutions on the market.  One example is our Peak2 Technology® that provides your customers with a whole new tanning experience by giving them a longer lasting, deep bronzing effect.

Our proprietary Peak² Technology® is like getting two lamps in one as it offers a pure and balanced phosphor mix that offers both a high UVA output as well as a high UVB output all in one phosphor.  This means our lamps have the ability to deliver dual spectral peaks to provide the highest output in the maximum pigmentation range.

The innovative bronzing lamps use a new patented, state-of-the-art coating material to provide tanners with an even, beautifully balanced tan.  The Peak² also is cost-effective as it increases output consistency over the life of the lamp.

Since tanning is a part of the beauty industry, aesthetics as well as functionality are important.  That’s why LightSources and LightTech have produced another proprietary product called Twist/Swirl Technology.  This is an ultrahigh-power tanning lamp that has periodical swirls and depressions on the outer tube and is specifically designed to create a luxurious look that is aesthetically appealing in the tanning salon.

However, the Twist lamp is not just a thing of beauty but is also a workhorse.  Its customized glass has a greater surface to reduce radiant heating, and at the same time improves the lamps’ cooling off efficiency.  Furthermore, our Twist lamps provide higher input and increased UV radiation output.

The Twist lamp is available in a range of options.  It can be ordered with or without a 180 degree reflector, a dual or tri-coat, and comes in all the standard lengths as well as wattages between 100W all the way up to 225W.  Visit our website to learn more about the best tanning lamps on the market.

The LightSources group is the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used worldwide and are found in a multitude of applications and industries such as our UV germicidal lamps that offer patent-protected, OEM-oriented solutions.  Please contact us to learn more about our broad range of standard and custom lighting solutions.

High Pressure UV Curing Lamps

Offering a high-speed, cost-effective solution, UV curing has quickly become the curing method of choice for many industries.  The process involves using high intensity ultraviolet lights to create a photochemical reaction to produce a byproduct that instantly cures adhesives, coatings, inks, varnishes, decorative glazes, and lacquers.  UV curing systems offer the advantage of being easy to operate and maintain, and are used by a range of industries including automotive, industrial, electrical, medical and optical.

The demands of your application will determine what type of UV curing lamps will best suit your needs.  The three primary types of lamps are:  High pressure UV (HPUV), Medium pressure UV (MPUV), and Amalgam lamps.  LightSources and LightTech’s sales team is very experienced with all three types of lamps and will help guide you through the process of designing your own unique system using our standard UV curing lamps or customized ones.

Our exceptional HPUV curing lamps, also known as Metal Halide lamps, offer short wavelength outputs that peak at 254nm and 365nm.  While lamps emit energy in both of these ranges, the strongest emission is found in the short wavelengths.  If an application requires higher wavelengths and needs to alter the spectral output such as in the reprographic industry, additive lamps are created by dosing the lamps with heavy metal compounds.  HPUV lamps are also used for applications in photochemistry, cosmetics, and the food and beverage industries as well as for sewer rehabilitation.

Contact us to learn how we can help to design a system that meets all of your specifications. In addition to our customized lamps, we also offer proprietary and patented base solutions to help keep you competitive in your respective global markets.

LightSources and its affiliated companies – LCD Lighting, Voltarc, LightTech, and Cerlux represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used world-wide in a multitude of applications and industries such as our avionic display backlighting that is part of the National Defense and US Space Program.

Specialty Fluorescent Lamps Designed for Light Therapy

Phototherapy, also known as light therapy, is the term used to describe light treatment procedures.  Specialty fluorescent lamps along with LED and dichroic lamps are used to treat a wide range of medical conditions such as jaundice, mood disorders, sleep disorders, skin disorders (psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, wrinkles, and acne), wound healing and photodynamic therapy (PDT).  A phototherapy session involves exposing the affected area to specific wavelengths of light.

One mood related disorder that is treated with light therapy is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a condition that causes mild depression due to the lack of natural light.  Research shows that natural sunlight triggers the pineal gland in our brains to produce serotonin, a mood-elevating hormone. The treatment for SAD is to artificially replace sunlight with full spectrum light therapy that imitates the color and intensity of the sun at noon.  Most individuals see an improvement in their mood in as short as a week.

Another common use of phototherapy is to treat neonatal jaundice.  The condition is caused by immature liver functions in newborns and results in a yellowing of the skin, and in some cases, yellowing of the whites of the eyes.  When medical intervention is called for, newborns are placed under special blue lights to prevent the condition from worsening.   In extreme cases, neonatal jaundice left untreated can cause brain damage.

Conditions such as sleep disorders, jet lag, and shift work disorders have also responded well to light therapy treatment.  Bright light therapy is used to advance or delay sleep, depending on how the circadian rhythm is shifted.

For more than 80 years, many skin related disorders have been treated with broadband phototherapy such as psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and acne vulgaris.  Please see our website to learn more about the ways LightSources and LightTech’s specialty fluorescent lamps and LED and dichroic lamps are being used.
