UVC Light is Ideal for Water Reclamation Applications

Water reclamation is an important part of water conservation.  Based on the premise that water should be reused, it encompasses a critical part of commonsense water management.  The process of water reclamation is designed to ensure that water leaving a facility meets strict regulations for both public safety as well as environmental protection.

Once the water is purified, it can be used for a variety of non-potable uses, defined as reused water that is not suitable for drinking, but is safe to use for irrigation or industrial purposes.  Applications include cooling water for power plants, concrete mixing, artificial lake supply, toilet water and irrigation.

The recycled water treated at a facility comes from domestic wastewater, industrial processed water, and rainwater.  This environmentally-friendly process helps to keep pollution out of our sensitive eco-systems as well as to decrease the amount of contaminants that flow into our lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water.

At LightSources and LightTech, we design, engineer and manufacture germicidal UV lamps used for water reclamation.  Our technologically advanced UV medium pressure standard lamps and medium pressure high power lamps not only disinfect, sanitize and oxidize reclaimed water, but also are used to reduce TOCs (total amount of organic carbon) and chloride/chloramines in the water.

By using wavelengths of 254 nm, UVC disinfection can instantly destroy pathogens and render them incapable of reproducing.  Wastewater plants and industries throughout the world are successfully using our low pressure UVC lamps, low pressure amalgam lamps, and medium pressure high power lamps to effectively and safely treat water.  Please see our website to learn more about how LightSources and LightTech UV lamps can work for you.

Technologically Advanced Backlighting for Computers

As part of the LightSources group, LCD Lighting (LCDL) has been designing, engineering and manufacturing state-of-the-art fluorescent lamps for a range of industries since 1987.  Our portfolio includes producing backlighting for LCD and AMLCD displays used in military and civilian aircrafts, shipboards, vehicles, vetronics and computers.  Our lamps were even used on NASA’s Space Shuttles.  By employing cutting-edge research and development, we work diligently to improve the technology that goes into our fluorescent lamps and continue to set the bar for the industry’s standard of excellence.

LCDL expertly produces miniature backlight lamps (CCFL) that are used for liquid crystal displays (LCD) in computers.  Backlighting in computers consists of built-in fluorescent tubes that are placed above, beside and occasionally behind the LCD and are designed to redirect and scatter the light evenly to give computer screens a uniform display.

One of the unique innovations from LCDL has been to produce backlight miniature lamps that are an efficient single-lamp system and intended to replace multiple lamp designs.  The technology offers several important benefits such as simplifying the wiring harnesses as well as to reduce power requirements and improve durability.

We offer OEMs a wide selection of sub miniature lamps in various diameters ranging from 2.0mm right through to 10.0mm, and lengths that run from 50mm up to 500mm.  Our CCFL’s are also available with radius bends of 2.mm to 15.0mm and come in all types of shapes.  In addition we can customize shapes to meet any OEM design specifications as well as offer the choice of virtually any color.

Furthermore, we manufacture Lamp Sub-Assemblies (LSA) that consist of the backlight lamp mounted and wired into the backlight housing.  Our fully assembled LSA units are designed according to clients’ drawings and specifications, which include the lamp, wiring harnesses, heaters, connectors, sensors and reflective back plate or cavity.

LightSources and our affiliated companies represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used world-wide in a multitude of applications and industries such as our avionic display backlighting that is part of the National Defense and US Space Program.  Please contact us to learn more about our extensive selection of lamps.

Help Troubleshooting Problems for Tanning Lamps

With a strong, strategic partnership, LightTech in Europe and LightSources in the U.S. are established leaders in their markets and are considered to be the world’s top innovators in UV lamp technologies.  We benefit from sharing synergies such as in research and product development and supply chain, and continue to design and engineer unique proprietary solutions that are setting new industry standards.

We recognize that our clients are much more than just customers who buy lamps and our companies’ philosophy has always been to partner with them to ensure their success.  While our primary goal is to provide the best tanning lamps on the market, we also offer lots of customer support online, by phone or email.  You will find the LightSources website contains a vast amount of educational material including troubleshooting tips as well as lamp performance and operating recommendations.

A sampling of some of the resources we offer is assistance with lamp appearance problems.  Generally replacing a starter can solve the problem of flickering or blinking lamps as well as provide the solution when only the lamp’s ends are glowing.  If your lamp is displaying orange and brown streaks, it most likely has air leaks due to end cracks caused during shipping.  In the case of swirling caused by minuscule impurities throughout the lamp, we suggest cycling the bed on and off a few times.

Keep in mind that a little preventive maintenance can help avoid problems down the road.  We suggest that each time you change a lamp to clean the tanning unit completely as dirty reflectors and acrylic can reduce the lamps’ UV performance.  In addition maintenance should include routinely changing starters as most bed manufacturers recommend changing starters every time you replace a lamp.  Remember that a worn-out starter can be responsible for destroying your expensive tanning lamps.  Check our website or contact us to learn more about our lamps and information on how to care for them.

Illuminate Your General Displays with Great Lighting!

Give your point-of-purchase (POP) displays the best lighting on the market.  As a way to increase sales and to attract attention, it is important your displays are well-lite and accessible to customers.  This is why purchasing lamps from the leader in the industry, LCD Lighting (LCDL), makes good sense.  Along with POP display lighting, we also specialize in providing technologically advanced indoor and outdoor fluorescent lighting for advertising displays, exhibits, retail, and mood lighting.

With one of the broadest selection of lamps available, POP display makers can stay true to a brand by taking advantage of our wide variety of colors and color correction.  Furthermore, our T5, T8, and T12 fluorescent lamps contain a unique cathode construction that offers an extra-long operating life – up to 60,000 hours for T5 & T8 and up to 50,000 hours for T12 – when compared to standard fluorescent lamps.  LCDL’s Long Life lamps are designed for both hot and cold operating environments.

In the case of our cold weather lamps, we encapsulate a T8 lamp in a T12 sleeve, which provides thermal insulation while still allowing the lamp to achieve its full brightness.  Our Long Life hot cathode T8 and T5 lamps are equipped with a long stem mount that creates a stable “cold spot” to ensure the lamp has an optimal output and performance.  For our Long Life T12 lamps, customers can easily retrofit them with electronic or magnetic ballasts and replace existing T12 HO lamps with new ones that offer 25 percent greater efficiency.

Additionally lamps with our Long Life technology require less maintenance, and since they do not need to be replaced as often, are also more environmentally friendly.  They are ideal for a range of applications including indoor/outdoor signage, advertising displays, exhibits, retail lighting, architectural, building fascia, warehouse and other hard-to-reach places.  Please see our website for technical and performance specifications.

LightSources and its affiliated companies – LCD Lighting, Voltarc, LightTech, and Cerlux represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.
