Technologically Advanced Backlighting for Computers

As part of the LightSources group, LCD Lighting (LCDL) has been designing, engineering and manufacturing state-of-the-art fluorescent lamps for a range of industries since 1987.  Our portfolio includes producing backlighting for LCD and AMLCD displays used in military and civilian aircrafts, shipboards, vehicles, vetronics and computers.  Our lamps were even used on NASA’s Space Shuttles.  By employing cutting-edge research and development, we work diligently to improve the technology that goes into our fluorescent lamps and continue to set the bar for the industry’s standard of excellence.

LCDL expertly produces miniature backlight lamps (CCFL) that are used for liquid crystal displays (LCD) in computers.  Backlighting in computers consists of built-in fluorescent tubes that are placed above, beside and occasionally behind the LCD and are designed to redirect and scatter the light evenly to give computer screens a uniform display.

One of the unique innovations from LCDL has been to produce backlight miniature lamps that are an efficient single-lamp system and intended to replace multiple lamp designs.  The technology offers several important benefits such as simplifying the wiring harnesses as well as to reduce power requirements and improve durability.

We offer OEMs a wide selection of sub miniature lamps in various diameters ranging from 2.0mm right through to 10.0mm, and lengths that run from 50mm up to 500mm.  Our CCFL’s are also available with radius bends of 2.mm to 15.0mm and come in all types of shapes.  In addition we can customize shapes to meet any OEM design specifications as well as offer the choice of virtually any color.

Furthermore, we manufacture Lamp Sub-Assemblies (LSA) that consist of the backlight lamp mounted and wired into the backlight housing.  Our fully assembled LSA units are designed according to clients’ drawings and specifications, which include the lamp, wiring harnesses, heaters, connectors, sensors and reflective back plate or cavity.

LightSources and our affiliated companies represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used world-wide in a multitude of applications and industries such as our avionic display backlighting that is part of the National Defense and US Space Program.  Please contact us to learn more about our extensive selection of lamps.
