The Benefits of Reflector Fluorescent Lamps

There are many instances where a reflector fluorescent lamp is the best choice to control the direction of light.  Reflector lamps work by increasing the portion of the output from a 360° lamp into a highly focused direction.  The lamp efficiently re-directs the light from the sides and back of the fluorescent tube to the non-reflector area of the lamp coating.  In many applications this technology is used in conjunction with an external fixture (polished or metallic) that also acts as a reflector to direct the light to where it is most needed.

Reflector lamps are designed with a reflective coating between the outer glass and the phosphor coating, which helps to reflect most of the light and directs it through the clear, or uncoated, portion of the lamp.  When it is combined with our effective fixture design, a reflector lamp can control the inherently uniform lamp output along the length of the fluorescent tube.  Reflector lamps are ideal for industries that require light distribution to be optimally distributed.  Common applications include flexographics, aquariums, and scanning and vision products among others.

Reflectors are most frequently used in linear T12 (38.1mm) lamps but can also be designed into a variety of lamp styles from straight to bent lamp geometry. Our reflector tubes have a reflective coating that covers 235 or 135 degrees of the interior with a phosphor coating over the inside of the entire tube.  Generally they have an internal reflective coating of 180° to 235° of the inside of the glass envelope but custom reflector sizes can be made to order.  The most common internal reflector is 180°.

LCD Lighting manufactures standard and custom aperture and reflector lamps from the highest-quality materials for scanners, copiers, facsimile machines, machine vision, sorting equipment for production lines and other imaging devices around the world.  Our lamps have specially blended phosphor coatings to produce the required output in the visible to the ultraviolet range, as required by equipment manufacturers.
