The Technology behind Our Proprietary SolGlass®

SolGlass® is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when two industry giants join forces.  Used in fluorescent and tanning lamps, SolGlass® was created when LightSources and LightTech combined resources to develop this innovative, proprietary glass technology.  Tanning customers get the most unbelievable results when using SolGlass® lamps and we consider it to be the most significant breakthrough in tanning since the sun.

Standard fluorescent and tanning lamps are inherently designed to filter out UV rays.  To have an effect on the skin, the glass requires UV phosphors as well as a powerful wattage to blast enough UV rays through the tube’s built-in filter.  The biggest problem with this need is that it degrades the performance and operating life of a standard lamp.

So how does the SolGlassTM technology work?  Our proprietary “open” glass allows for a more effective and efficient UV transmission especially at wavelengths used for tanning that offer the best results. The LightSources’ lamp is the only one in the industry that contains this UVB spectrum as well as providing the highest UVA readings.  Our 300nm technology permits more than 75% of the UVB energy to pass through while standard U.S. tanning lamps typically only allow around 36%.

Now with the invention of our SolGlass® unique glass technology and proprietary phosphor blend, the tanning industry can get lamps that offer instant gratification with immediate coloring as well as persistent pigmentation and lasting results.   Furthermore, our lamps meet all U.S. regulations and are in alignment with European regulations including 0.3W/m2 sunbed or class 3 sunbed regulations.  We also continue to receive positive feedback from end-users all around the world.

LightSources and our affiliated companies represent the leading high-tech designers and manufacturers in the lamp industry today.  Our products are used world-wide in a multitude of applications and industries such as our UV germicidal lamps that offer patent-protected, OEM-oriented solutions.  Our team consists of the most highly skilled
